Dancing in an Empty Room
self portrait taken at home
I am a self taught artist from Boston, MA. My passion for photography has been with me for as long as I can remember. When I was young I would watch my father with all of his cameras...it was fascinating. I did not seriously start taking pictures until moving to Brooklyn in 2003. For four years I roamed the New York City streets with my camera studying people.watching everything around me.
I found that my interest and focus was more geared towards self portraiture and conceptual photography than just street photography. In 2006, a self portrait I took in Death Valley was published in JPG Magazine. In 2007 that same photo was a finalist in Smithsonian Magazines annual photo contest. It was also published in their June 2007 issue and exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute. In 2009 another one of my self portraits was short listed in Digital Camera Magazines Photographer of the Year contest. Taking a photo that I feel passion for creating and then exhibiting that work and seeing the response is one of my favorite things. It makes me feel alive.
