This image is a photogram of scissors. It is made with a glass plate I hand coated with photographic emulsion and the original is 5x7". It is a "dry plate ambrotype", not a collodion image. The glass plate was processed in a traditional print developer and a coffee based developer.
i have been a freelance photographer since about 1988, shooting everything from weddings to portraits to site architecture / documentation. while i have and use digital cameras, i would rather my initial image be created using traditional materials. i use film and paper and glass and metal as negatives. i coat things myself with emulsion. in addition to silver based images, i also make iron based ones, called cyanotypes.
