Bicycle With Railing
The scene is of a bicycle chained to a railing. It is a curvilinear structure played off against rectangles. On the surface it's a fun picture of where a person parked his bike, and it's also a study in shapes and form.
I fell in love with still photography in the 1970's. I love the challenge of creating single images that successfully express an idea, or evokes a memory or emotion.
I received my formal training at Point Park University studying photography as a fine art and graduated with a BA Cum Laude. I've been exhibiting my photography since 1979 in numerous regional shows, and a few national and international. I have been concentrating on one man shows including one at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh in 1994.
My work has been published in numerous books, magazines, and wall art calendars by publishers such as: Rizzoli, National Geographic Books, St Remy, Thames Hudson, Phaidon, Bulfinch, Pittsburgh History and Landmarks, and others.
Some of my work has been used as set dressing on the movies: Two Evil Eyes, Spiderman 2, and the Netflix streaming show Hemlock Grove.
My work is in over 200 collections including: West Penn Hospital, J&L Specialty Steel, C.S. McKee, W. Pennsylvania Blue Cross Blue Shield, Zippo Lighters, Andre Previn, Harvey Keitel, and others.
I use 4x5, 2 1/4, and 35mm in my work.
