from a recent trip to the eastern part of france. this sheep was kind enough to let me take his portrait. i used a vintage "graflex series d 4x5 slr" and and color film to make this photograph. like most of my work it begins with film or paper and is usually just scanned without many photoshop acrobatics.

i have been a freelance photographer since about 1988, shooting everything from weddings to portraits to site architecture / documentation. while i have and use digital cameras, i would rather my initial image be created using traditional materials. i use film and paper and glass and metal as negatives. i coat things myself with emulsion. in addition to silver based images, i also make iron based ones, called cyanotypes.
