Near Conimicut Point, Narragansett Bay

Rhode Island

This is a photograph of Conimicut Point, looking towards Potowamut, in Warwick RI. Narragansett Bay is between the two. This is a glassplate negative made using a 4x5" piece of glass I coated with liquid silver emulsion. It is also called a "dry plate" ( not collodion wet plate ). The camera used was a vintage "graflex series d 4x5" and vintage optics. The developer was both a traditional print developer and a coffee based developer. The negative was scanned.

i have been a freelance photographer since about 1988, shooting everything from weddings to portraits to site architecture / documentation. while i have and use digital cameras, i would rather my initial image be created using traditional materials. i use film and paper and glass and metal as negatives. i coat things myself with emulsion. in addition to silver based images, i also make iron based ones, called cyanotypes.
