We don’t get a lot of rain in Southern California these days, so when we do it is a pretty big deal. And when we get hail….even bigger. When we saw these images of a recent hail storm in Huntington Beach, California we could believe our eyes! As per usual, Los Angeles Times photojournalist Allen Schaben was in the right place at the right time and was able to capture this once in a lifetime occurrence. Snow at the beach in SoCal! You can see some of Allen’s amazing images below or visit his Instagram profile at @alshabn and the LA Times photo gallery for more amazing images.
While we are going crazy over snow at the beach in Southern California, Nantucket-based surf photographer Jonathan Nimerfroh was busy shooting “Slurpee Waves” on the East Coast. The temperature was around 19 degrees fahrenheit and gave the water an almost frozen, Slurpee-like consistency. Thankfully Jonathan was there with his camera to catch these amazing photos.
