Riviera
Every year the downtown area of Long Beach is turned into a temporary racing car circuit. Streets, parks and parking lots are transformed by temporary structures that lie empty for weeks and then are used for one weekend before being dismantled
and stored for another year.
These structures are striking in their simplicity, their impact heightened by their short-lived presence on the skyline.
This series has been created with images taken over the last 5 years.
I am an educator and photographer and in the past I have worked almost entirely in black and white. I was born and raised in Gibraltar and moved to the US in 1995. I currently live on Orcas Island in Washington State.
Moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2020 has encouraged me to rediscover a love color in my previous and current work.
My passion for black and white remains as I find that, without color, the natural and man made environments present the viewer with a starkly different experience.
Thank you for looking at my work,
