Raymond Martinot

Raymond, a native of Paris, France, was born in 1944 and embarked on his photographic journey just before his military service at the age of 18, during which he was stationed in Germany. His passion for photography blossomed as he traversed the landscapes of Europe, embarking on adventures that would shape his artistic vision. A notable expedition to the Northernmost point in Norway, undertaken on a Vespa scooter, marked the beginning of his odyssey capturing the essence of life through his lens.

Following his return to Paris, Raymond established himself in the photography business, honing his craft and exploring the vibrant tapestry of human existence. His lens soon turned towards the bustling streets of New York, the exotic allure of Morocco, the rugged beauty of Ireland, and the familiar landscapes of his homeland, France. Through his candid and often voyeuristic approach, Raymond captured moments of raw humanity, infused with his ever-present sense of humor. It was amidst these journeys that Raymond cultivated a profound appreciation for architecture, finding beauty in the lines, shapes, and textures that adorned the urban landscapes he encountered. As his career progressed, he delved into advertising, architecture, and the realm of fine art, leaving an indelible mark on each venture with his distinctive style and unique perspective. Decades later, Raymond's son unearthed his father's complete archive, a treasure trove of memories frozen in time. Through the lens of his father's camera, he embarked on a journey of discovery, reconnecting with the man behind the photographs and experiencing the world anew through his eyes. In preserving his father's legacy, he found solace and inspiration, a testament to the enduring power of art to transcend time and connect generations.
