From the artist:
"Zebras are among the hardest animals to photograph in the African plains. They gather in large quantities, typically resulting in an irreverent clash of patterns, and they easily scatter, so you’re generally observing them at a distance. This lack of physical closeness constitutes a major challenge when making art that forges a strong emotional connection.
Yet I always imagined creating an image of their overlapping stripes, filling the frame with the unique contours and shapes only possible with zebras. Similar to my images of sand dunes from 2015, I knew that the perfect composition of layers of these animals could result in something magnificent and mesmerizing.
Just a few weeks ago, in the Maasai Mara in Kenya, I captured this elusive image of a zebra I’ve long dreamed of creating.
The resulting photograph, “Dazzle,” is unlike any I’ve ever released and reminds us of our Earth’s unrivaled inhabitants."
